John Wion Homepage

Welcome!

As my life from the age of ten has produced an ever deepening involvement with the flute, much of the material here will reflect that interest. My performing career has encompassed a variety of activities from symphony orchestra to chamber music to solo. I have made a number of recordings, many of which can be purchased from CD Baby and Flute World, as well as in download form from the internet. I served as the principal flutist of the New York City Opera from 1965 to 2002 and taught flute at The Hartt School from 1977 to 2007. I have written a number of articles on the flute and have edited and published flute music. Please "friend" me on Facebook, and listen to me on YouTube. With an unusual surname (pronounced as in lion) I have also pursued an interest in genealogy.
